About
This spiny, multi-stemmed evergreen shrub or small tree typically grows 2-5 metres tall, occasionally reaching 6-8 metres. It features stout, dark green thorns up to 3 cm long and small, round to heart-shaped, hairy, grey-green leaves. Its small, greenish-yellow flowers develop into oval, hairy fruits about 2 cm in length, which turn orange-yellow when ripe and contain an edible pulp.
Where it works in Kilifi
Ideal for arid and semi-arid gardens, this drought-resistant species is excellent for soil conservation, live fencing, or as a specimen in sunny, open areas. It thrives in various soil types, including sandy, rocky, or thin soils.
