About
Aspilia macrorrhiza is a scrambling perennial herb that can grow up to 90 cm high, characterised by its substantial root, which can be up to 5 cm across. Its leaves are ovate and sometimes three-lobed, with rough-dentate to denticulate margins and a white-scabrid texture on both surfaces. The plant produces terminal, solitary capitula featuring 8-10 deep yellow ray florets.
Where it works in Kilifi
As a native scrambling perennial herb found at low altitudes (1-50m) in East Africa, this species is well-suited for use as groundcover or in naturalised areas within a Kilifi-coast garden.
