It typically exhibits glabrous stems and leaves, which are sessile, entire, and arranged oppositely or in whorls. Its inconspicuous flowers are generally found in clusters within the leaf axils.
Where it works in Kilifi
Suitable for wetland restoration, pond margins, or consistently moist garden areas in Kilifi that receive full sun. It prefers loamy soil that remains perpetually wet or even waterlogged.
Growing notes
An annual species that establishes and grows rapidly, requiring consistent moisture and high levels of direct sunlight to flourish. It is adapted to sites with periodic flooding cycles and germinates in muddy soil as water levels drop.
