About
This succulent forms a stemless or very short-stemmed rosette, typically reaching 30-40 cm in diameter, with fleshy, bluish-green, lanceolate leaves that have small reddish-brown teeth along their margins. Its most distinguishing feature is the pendulous inflorescence, bearing gracefully drooping racemes of vibrant coral-red to reddish-orange or yellow tubular flowers, blooming predominantly in late summer and autumn. Native to the rocky slopes of the Uluguru Mountains in Tanzania and South-Eastern Kenya, it thrives in cool, humid mountain microclimates.

In a Kilifi-coast garden, place this Aloe in a location receiving bright, indirect light or morning sun, providing shade from the intense afternoon sun. Ensure it is planted in extremely well-drained, sandy-loam or a specialised cactus-succulent mix to prevent root rot.
Growing notes
This species requires infrequent, deep watering, allowing the soil to dry out completely between applications, with reduced watering during cooler periods. It prefers temperatures between 15-25°C and is not cold-hardy, necessitating protection from frost.
