This herbaceous perennial forms a compact rosette of thick, fleshy, oval leaves that are dark-green, hairy, and often display pronounced veins and wavy margins. It produces clusters of trumpet-shaped, five-lobed flowers, typically light to medium blue or violet-blue, on slender stalks. As a lithophyte, it naturally thrives on rocky outcrops in its native southeastern Kenya, blooming almost all year round.
