About

Aloe kilifiensis is an evergreen succulent perennial, forming dense rosettes of slender, upright leaves often tinged reddish when exposed to full sun. Its leaves are armed with small teeth along their margins and may exhibit a subtle, whitish bloom. It produces a branched stalk with vibrant coral-red flowers, which are attractive to pollinators.

Where it works in Kilifi

This succulent thrives in full sun, requiring at least six hours daily for optimal growth and coloration. Plant in well-draining soil, such as a mix formulated for cacti and succulents, within coastal bushland, sandy, or coral rag areas. It can be used as a striking specimen or for restoration in suitable Kilifi habitats.

Growing notes

Aloe kilifiensis is relatively drought-tolerant once established. Water thoroughly but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, and reduce watering significantly during cooler, dormant months. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot.
